Nineteen new COVID-19 cases

Douglas County, Ore. – Douglas County health officials report, as of 12:00 pm Friday, January 8, 2021, there are nineteen people with new positive test results to report since Thursday’s noon case update.
The total number of cases (people with positive test results and presumptive) in Douglas County is now at 1,528. Currently, there are five Douglas County COVID-19 patients that are being hospitalized, two locally and three out-of-the-area.
Currently, DPHN is supporting 158 cases in isolation, as well as another 157 contacts in quarantine in Douglas County. Isolation is recommended for confirmed and presumptive cases, quarantine is recommended for contacts of confirmed or presumptive cases. Currently, staff is supporting an astounding 315 total contacts in isolation or quarantine.
The scheduled January vaccine distribution, for now is to be only available for the Phase 1a group of front line health care workers, people who live or work in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities and first responders.
