Thirteen pounds of cocaine seized in Lookingglass

Douglas County, Ore. – In the evening hours of Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021, the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) arrested two individuals involved in local and interstate drug trafficking crimes.

DINT detectives and deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Coos Bay Wagon Road near Reston Road, in rural Douglas County. When authorities searched the vehicle, they found approximately 2 pounds of cocaine and a loaded firearm.

According to authorities, DINT followed up a short time later with a search warrant for a residence in the 1900 block of Dairy Loop Road in the Lookingglass area. During a search of that residence, authorities discovered a large amount of illegal controlled substances and other drug paraphernalia. In total, detectives seized approximately 13 pounds of suspected cocaine and approximately 4 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

Detectives arrested 59 year old David Zoeter of Lookingglass, Oregon, and 46 year old Eric Gonzalez-Velez of Desert Hot Springs, California. Zoeter has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine. Gonzalez-Velez has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Cocaine, and Unlawful Delivery of Cocaine. Both have been lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
