UCC presents “Ring of Fire — The story and music of Johnny Cash” an outdoor theatrical event

ROSEBURG, Ore., — The Umpqua Community College Performing and Visual Arts Department presents “Ring of Fire,” originally created by Richard Maltby, Jr. and conceived by Bill Meade. This theatrical performance will tell the story of Johnny Cash through his music sung by a cast of ten performers, outdoors in Swanson Amphitheater.
“From the songbook of Johnny Cash comes this unique musical about love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, and the healing power of home and family. More than two dozen classic hits—including “I Walk The Line,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and the title tune — performed by a multi-talented cast, paint a musical portrait of The Man in Black. Though he is never impersonated, Johnny Cash’s remarkable life story is told through his music, climaxing in a concert that will both move and exhilarate!” as mentioned by Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
The event will take place July 13, 14 and 15 at 7:00 p.m. and July 15 and 16 at 3:00 p.m. Admission is $15.00 per person, cash at the entrance, and appropriate for all ages. For more information, contact 541-440-4694.
